New addition.....

First I want to let you guys know I have not fallen off the face of the earth, despite my good intentions to be a better blogger again I have fallen by the way side...

Anyway moving on, work is great, no major automobile mishaps, haven't been affected by the flooding, thankfully.

We have a new member in the house hold , a kitten. We picked her up last Tuesday evening got home and that was the last we saw of her until yesterday morning..
The only thing that assure me she had not escaped was the fact that every morning I checked her food bowl and food was missing....Of course that could have been mice, but the I doubt mice would use the kitty litter box in the basement.

Thursday I searched the house high and low, I looked in the washing machine, the tumble dryer and even the dishwasher. No cat. Then on Saturday morning I went into the basement to do some laundry and saw a movement out of the corner of my eye, low and behold there under the stair she was.

So up the stairs I came cat in had, she sat with me on the sofa, purring away, she had a bit of cream from my starbucks frappuccino and then she was gone for the rest of the day.
This time her hiding place was into the demoed bathroom wall, through the wall under the bathtub in our bedroom- still purring away.
I coaxed her out and after around 30 minutes was able to grab her while WP secured the hole to thwart further attempts.

This time she stayed around and did all the usual kitten things, ate my hair attacked the chain around my neck, pounced on her twitching tail ( which at the time was on my leg).
Then she came to bed with us, but for her it was not bedtime of course so she made do with eating my hair again and trying to get as close to lying across my neck as possible.
Some time in the night she must have got up to use the bathroom or eat or something because she then woke us up meowing to get back on the bed.

The the same thing again a few hours later, anyway I think the only time she has ventured in to the basement today has been to use the litter box then she has spent the rest of her time clawing, pouncing and purring.

WP and I have been thinking up names but both seem to have settled on "Cat"- so Cat it is maybe I will spell it with a "K" so it looks more like a name.

Little brat.

Yes those claws are sharp, I have the scratches to prove it...

And thats about it, I cannot think of anything else of interest, work, dinner, sleep, dismay at the snow flakes today but they seem to have all melted away.

Happy Easter everyone and I will try to catch up with you all in the week.
:)

I am shattered...

Work: well I will try to fill in as best as I can without rambling on too much...

Everyone seems really nice, of course I have met that many people I think it will take a while to remember all the names!

I think it's going to be a lot of hard work, for instance I have been there one week and already worked two and a half hours overtime ( and I don't know what I am doing yet!)
I think my longest lunch hour has been something like 20 minutes.

Still its really interesting, basically we take orders from salesmen and companies for TV ad space.
I print off the faxed and emailed orders as they come in, sort them all out into deadline and non deadline, then log them all and pass them onto the billing dept as soon as we can so they can work them and then pass them on to the people who assign air times.

Added to that I have to log and send off to the bank all the checks that come in, keep on top of the faxes and mail for the rest of the department, collect any customer videotapes, order all the office supplies and lots more!

Of course I am still only learning, the woman who does the job now (and types a million times faster then me) is really nice and is very patient with dumb ole me.....I hope I can get the hang of it because on my first day the other assistant (for a different region) was "let go" because she could not do the job *YIKES*.

So we both have been doing her work as well, hence the quick lunch hours and overtime.

In short I am shattered, its going to take a few weeks to get back into a work routine, as well as still having to make dinner, do the laundry, the housework and all the usual stuff.

*My desk is still tidy btw...well apart from the huge pile of orders to face on Monday.....

We were out of the office on Thursday (which added to the pressure on Friday)- We all (and the area salespeople- more people to meet and try to remember their names....) had to meet up at a local hotel, of course that was the day with all the bad weather, I made it there by the skin of my teeth but some people coming from the south were stuck in traffic 5 hours!

It was a day spent listening to various company presidents, professional speakers, video watching and then team building exercises which included teams having to create a "jingle" for the company and then getting on stage to sing it!!!! We were the last (and most reluctant) group to get up on stage, we tried to get out of it but were basically FORCED by the women running the "fun" part.

Not only were we the last group but by far the WORST group to, we also had the added humiliation of being filmed as well- I blush now at the very thought of it.

Yes the less said about that day the better....

Moving quickly on:

So today was spent driving around area car lots looking for some wheels, there is not a great deal out there in my price range, added to the fact that I don't even have any proof of an income yet so WP is probably going to have to be on the loan with me. we have one possible but of course they don't finance themselves and the bank was shut by this time.

Tried to fill out the online loan application but the stupid thing kept freezing and playing up so things are going to have to wait until next week now, then probably til next Saturday before I can physically do anything- Gosh I don't know how people have time to work and fit in everything else thats needs Mon-Fri attention.

I have decided against posting the wedding photos, they are not that great, but to paint some sort of picture, the groom wore a pimp suit, hat and cane and had white spats on his black shoes....

Tomorrow I get to grocery shop- alone weeeee.

and then its early to bed to try and catch up on some sleep!

Happy Sunday folks.

P.S I hope this drivel makes some sort of sense, I am not at my sharpest tonight - thank goodness for spell check!

The Last Friday...

Just came to me this is the last Friday I am going to be sitting here blogging (well for a while anyway), not only that but the last Friday I will spend with WP (he has Friday and Saturday off).

I am sure he won't miss me in the least ( he is taking a nap as I type this) in fact he will be glad to get rid of me.

Yesterday I drove on the HIGHWAY Wp's bro decided he wanted to go to the Dr's (without an appointment) but whatever it was not my gas being used.

I drove him there and back- for you St Louisans I drove from St Charles all the way to Big Bend, wooo.

It was not too bad, I only had to make sure I swapped over 2 lanes as I got onto the highway and coming back I never had to swap at all, nice and easy just stayed in the inside (or is it outside?) lane the whole way back and then crossed over to my exit.

Then I drove to the post office from the house into St Charles SOLO!
Yay, I was in the wrong lane coming back but I pushed myself over and got there and back in one piece, with nobody having to sound their horn or give me the finger....

It still feels "naughty" to be driving alone, guess it's something I will have to get used to.

Last night we went to thee the Jumper, it was ok- the effects were really good but the storyline could have been better.Hayden Christensen the main character was bugging me where I had seen him before, well I just looked him up and of course he played Anakin Skywalker. Duh!
Other then having a piece of popcorn thrown at me, the couple behind us talking for about the first hour and then the guy half of the couple falling asleep and snoring through the last 15 minutes of the film it was pretty uneventful...
oh I nipped out halfway through to get WP another soda and the three (young) men at the counter were gushing over my accent and asking me about football (soccer)- Phfft do I look like a football fan? I said no I did not like football and one of them said did I like to watch Darts???errr no, finally to shut them up I said if I had to watch sport I preferred baseball.

Thats about it! we have a wedding reception this evening, should be interesting, however I am not sure how "secure" this blog is so I may never mention the goings on ala wedding reception again.

Oh and the best laugh, we drove all the way to the Dr's only to find they had closed at noon. Haaa Haaaa, guess thats why it's a good idea to call first.

Happy Friday Folks!

OK, So I am mean...

..but what the hell.

Yesterday I went to Walmart with WP's bro. I finished shopping before him so I stood by the back of the checkouts to wait for him. I had lots of time to take in the staff (because he is so slow) I saw this woman...

She went to work dressed like this? The picture does not do real justice but in short her hair was all greasy and looked like it had not seen a brush in a while, she is wearing what I suspect to be her (much larger) husbands jacket for cutting the firewood in, and please if you are going to be short and wear cropped pants:
Get a shorter leg length ( I admit I have this problem and it's easier said then done) Or at least wear some no-show socks.

Jeeze, you would think even Walmart had some dress standards, why cant they shell out and supply everyone with a uniform of pants, a polo and a sweatshirt for the cooler days, they sell clothes for god's sake.

Anyway, lets move on:

I got a voice mail from work ( have to get used to saying that) I passed my drug test (oral- Sorry Corky) and seems I am not on Americas most wanted list so they look forward to seeing me next Monday at 8am.

Now onto the driving:

I attempted to parallel park this morning, first I moved WP's truck forward on the driveway and then I turned his Bro car around ( on the same same driveway- no mean feat- well for me anyway).
Then I had a go, not so good. I did not hit anything but was aware all the time of how close the garage/trash can and porch posts seemed. this put me off a little ( my story and I am sticking to it)

I persuaded WP to come out with me, because I need to know when to turn this way and when to turn that way- When I say need to know when , I mean I need a reference point on the inside of the car so when it lines up with X I know to go the other way.

Anyway he was a lot of help- Not. We changed places and he did it in like 1.5 seconds, before I had time to take anything in.

*Sigh

So when he went to work I moved the trash can to "pretend" it was the end of a car and had another go, I think I did ok....

Before

and after.

Not bad, I did it again and then decided it was too cold to carry on.
I want to take the test but I also don't want to because I am scared (lol), I know if I fail it the first time I won't want to go and do it again in case I get the same examiner.
But I want to get it over with, because lets face it once I pass I am hopefully NEVER going to have to parallel park anywhere. I will look at all the other options: Walk the extra distance/ not go/ make sure I am not the one driving.

What I need is someone who is kind and patient to tell me that I did it right (or show me when and where).

Do people like this exist?

Quickie

Just a quick update:

I went in on Monday to sign the acceptance letter, the hourly pay was a pleasant surprise...
I have been given a start date of Feb 18th, providing my criminal background and drug tests come back ok- Which I am pretty sure they would.
They wanted to see my drivers license which of course I was still waiting for immigration to approve so I could not give them that number at the time. But I got the license the next day through the mail (permit of course), so I sent off a quick email to the lady in HR with the number.

One thing I noticed is the DL expires on the same day as my work permit- which is annoying because IF when I do pass my driving test I am going to have to re-new it before the year is out!

As for the parallel parking, I still have not attempted it because when the boys have had their days off the weather has been terrible.

I have to say though I doubt very much it will be WP showing me, he has the patience of an angry wasp...

His brother is not much better but because he and I are not married it works out just fine, he manages to hold any annoyance in.

We will see if anyone has time tomorrow....

One last thing I have a favour to ask...
I have discovered this new font which I love, to quote:
Calibri is a sans serif with soft rounded corners. It has a warm, friendly personality that isn't found in fonts like Arial and Helvetica. It is also the one typeface in the collection that is appropriate for use both in text sizes and larger headline sizes.

In Microsoft's promotional booklet, "Now Read This," Calibri's designer Lucas de Groot says, "Its proportions allow high impact in tightly set lines of big and small type alike."

He adds, "This font is suitable for documents, e-mail, Web design, and magazines."

Calibri set in regular, bold, or italic is a pleasure to read. The rounded corners create a smooth reading experience. As de Groot says, "The family has a generous width that makes reading easier by emphasizing the reading direction."

Well I am trying it out on one of my test sites and it works, but I read somewhere that it does not work for Mac users so if you have a Mac can you please look HERE and let me know if it looks the same as the picture below.

Even if you don't use Mac can you have a look what it looks like.

If it doesn't show for the majority then there is no point in using it!

Thanks a bunch, have a happy Thursday.
:)

Chapter 3: Did I say enough...

Chapter's 1 & 2 can be found before this post.

So last Tuesday was the big day- the interview.
I get all my "evidence" together, joint bank statements, marriage documents, Utility bills that sort of thing, to basically prove we do actually live in the same house.

Now they do request on the appointment notice that you also take photographs as proof of a relationship- However if you could see my photograph on my work permit you would understand whenever any camera or recording device enters a room, I exit the room.

So I have all I need except my i-94 arrival/departure record.

Its a little green card that looks like this:

Holy Flipping Crap!! I cannot find it anywhere ( and I am usually careful about stuff like passports etc and I tend to keep them all in the same place safe & sound)
Not only that but I cannot for the life of me remember when and where I last had it, I know I scanned it and sent off a copy of it when I sent off my immigration forms, then I thought I had put it in the file with the extra passport photos, USCIS notices, letters and forms etc.

Maybe it slipped out of the file?
Maybe I lost it at the medical exam ?- I took the file with me to that.
Maybe I lost it in the move from the apartment to the house?

I have no clue and its really rather worrying because that along with the stamp in my passport are the only 2 things that prove I entered the United States legally.

Both got dressed up drove into the city, paid a fortune for parking and went into the USCIS

* insert suspense music*

We go in , I set off the metal detector as usual and have to have the little portable thingy waved up and down over my body.

Go to the waiting room which has quite a few other people in it ( mostly dressed up too- I knew it wasn't a jeans kind of thing)

No reception desk/ window at all, instead there is a door and a hole in the wall in witch you place your interview appointment letter ( probably so the staff don't have to listen to bitching?)

Now we wait, we are about 20 mins early. People come out of "the door" they don't seem to be smiling, just blank expressions, wonder if this a bad sign or a good sign.

People who came in after us get called in before us.

Then its our turn * Shudder*
A very severe looking woman ( Immigration Officer) shows us into her office- all glass walls, huge American flag ( with the yellow fringing ) on a stand, a desk, her chair and 3 chairs the other side of the desk. A webcam on the desk!

Before we sit down she has us swear an oath to tell the truth, WP bless his heart has to pipe up and say he cannot swear to God because he is an Atheist. Severe woman looks a little put out and I want to fall into a hole in the floor.
She looks up the non God believing oath and he agrees to tell the truth...

We sit down and she begins asking me a whole load of questions ( which I had already answered on the form)

Am I a communist
Am I a terrorist
Am I a felon
Am I a smuggler
Do I intend to practice polygamy

That sort of thing.

Then she moves onto how we met, looks at our joint bills, bank statements etc.
She asked why I did not leave the country when I was mean to, I (we) told her that was when WP first started getting ill and we could no longer afford to pay for more flights to and from the UK.

I took along the HUGE folder of medical bill records which I opened to show my point, she did not make any effort to take them to look at or whatever.

Then it was when and how did we decide to marry. I told her it was a whim.

She then said" so when you came back into the country in *insert month* you came planning to stay for good.*

Hmm sneaky trick question?

I said that no I had not and that I had intended at the time to return to the Uk again and come back at a later date ( which was the truth) but because we no longer could afford to do that I ended up just staying.

* Its seen as an act of fraud to come into the United States on the Visa Waiver Program with the intent to marry or not leave the country again after the 90 days.

So thats about it pretty much.....Now you all know me, I like to scare myself about every possible scenario by reading other peoples illnesses/ stories on the internet.

So of course I had googled many many times looking up what happens at immigration interviews.

According to the general consensus on the many internet forums out there. You go /you convince the IO that you did not intend to stay and break the law/ they are satisfied with your story and immediately stamp your passport- ( the stamp is so you can leave the country and re-enter etc while you are waiting for your green card- That and I guess would allow you a bloody drivers license right away!)

Did she stamp mine? NO.

She took it and Wp's DL to photocopy, looked at my work permit ( which I also ready they then take it away from you when you get approval for a green card), I still have mine.

She said IF I were to get approved then they would more then likely hold off the green card date until mid feb.
The reason for this is if you have been married less then 2 years you get a 2 year conditional green card ( which I think is meant to put a stop to people marrying just for a green card and then splitting up)
One you are nearing your second wedding anniversary you then become eligible for the proper 10 yr green card- The card lasts 10 years but once that permanent resident status is issued you get it for life (unless you commit a serious crime or something)

So they would hold off on our case and just grant the 10 yr card once we have been married 2 yrs. where as if they gave me one before it would be another 2 yrs before I could swap it to the 10 yr one.
Which makes sense I guess.

WP being the little ray of sunshine he is then started asking what would happen if my case was not approved, how long would it be before I had to leave the country, could I stay here and just not work, him take care of me that sort of thing.

She said if the case was not approved I would get a trial (cripes) and even felons who go to trial sometimes get granted approval.

So on the whole I think its looking ok, I just wish she would have been a bit more "forthcoming" and more "human"

One thing she never mentioned the 1-94 card ( which is still playing on my mind being lost n all)
So that was a positive.

Once we had left though I wondered if I should have showed her:

My return ticket to the UK- just to show I had intended to return.

I also had a letter from work agreeing to my career break ( a formal word for unpaid time off)- To show that I had not given up my job to come to the US.

But its too late now.

Another positive thing is WP received a letter from them yesterday stating that his application I-130 Petition for Alien Relative had been approved. I was happy for a while until again I had to go and get on the internet and read about cases where I-130's but I-485's Application To Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status ( which is what the interview was about) were not approved....

So I just need to sit it out, stay calm and stay off emigration forums for the next few weeks and hope for the best.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

And if you kept up with 3 posts worth of drivel and still managed to get the general gist of things as they now stand, you are a better person then I !!!!

Oh and just one more thing: I have an interview on Friday at one of the larger companies in the area, don't want to say too much more at this point other then its one of the jobs I applied for back in early December ( and they just called yesterday) and that I don't think I am probably qualified enough for the job so I am not holding out much hope but will give it a shot.

Happy 2008

A belated Happy new year to y'all.

I haven't got much to update really, quiet Christmas, Quiet New Year, Bloody FREEZING today- Thankfully (or not) I don't have to worry about going out in it, other then to start WP's car so it's warm when he leaves for work.

On the job front, Firstly I have heard nothing from ad's I have applied to and I have only myself to blame.

STUPIDLY, I sent my resume as a word attachment thinking" Well at least people will see I can use word" Not even giving a thought to how many people are gonna be dumb enough to open an email attachment from somebody they do not know!

BUT.....

Today I got a call - OK a wrong number, I thought at first it was by some teeny chance it was a job.He was after a completely different person....
I happened to mention I thought it might have been a job call and he asked what sort of work I was looking for because he was looking for someone to help out in the office.
So we had a brief chat and he said he may have time to see me later in the week!

Of course it's only a very small lead and he is in the "UC Loop" which maybe too far and he may have been totally just saying it to get the crazy woman off the phone but who knows.. but keep your fingers crossed for me!

Drivel.

I stole this pic from Orhans blog. I love it so much I had to set it as my desktop picture, he has such a cute little face (in a Goth kind of way)..Boys in eyeliner are so darn cute!, Yes I know he is a little young ( don't worry Pissy). But the look on his face makes me giggle.

Anyway , what have I been up to? I can really say, WP has been off on vacation Tue/ wed and day off today & tomorrow. The week has flown by in a blur.

I am about to file my papers with immigration, I am terrified, and pissed off that the buggers put their fees up at the end of last month! I thought it wont be so bad just a few $'s more....Wrong its now going to cost me around $500+ more.

We went today to have passport size photos taken to send in with all the stuff, they are terrible, I hate my photo taken at the best of times but this looks like I have had a stroke or something, one side of my mouth is up and the other is down!
Wp's are terrible too Hee.

I only hope that I don't have to see these photos again after I have sent them off.
Of course I needed three but they only do them in pairs so I had to buy four ( I will burn the other)

Speaking of burning, I had some papers the other day that I wanted to get rid of and had a brainwave, I thought it would be easier to just burn them in the sink rather then cut them all up. Wrong. 4 hours later the apartment still reeked of smoke. Cough.

Then the rest of the week has been mostly watching WP and his pal( south city boy who I am going to call Billy Bob Hee) working on cars (yes in 100+ temperatures! ). I think on the whole more talking and general messing about goes on then actual car maintenance.

Thats about it , at least thats all I can recall....

season premiere......

Well not really, but I thought it was about time I showed my face :)

What have I been up to?
Cant say I can think of anything extra exciting really ( At this point I should maybe make up a fancy tale, but lack the imagination)

A quick run down:
  • Still going to the gym,Got a hott body,6 pack,Smaller boobs (barely a handful) and larger but less wobbly legs, according to WP anyway....Still my pants are getting looser even if I cannot see any difference. I haven't been going to Yoga for a while, I must get back into it soon, I was thinking about Pilate's as well (Monday evenings)
  • WP has had another birthday, still waiting for one of his pressies to show up (dam you ebay T shirt seller!!). I was going to burn bake him a cake but he was off for a few days so I couldn't fill the house with smoke bake without him knowing...So he got off lightly this year.
  • Went to see Oceans 13 yesterday, aside from the Brad Pitt on the large screen obvious attractions the film was ok too. What was not ok was the concessions costing as much as the tickets...No time to stop off before hand to stock up on goodies.
  • The Sopranos, yes I know this has probably been disscussed to death but I have to add my 2 cents....At first just like everybody else I thought the cable was out, you got to hand it to David Chase love him or hate him he got everybody talking. The next morning the amount of hatred on the HBO forums was unprecedented Hee. As for me, well I am glad ole Tony didn't die, (or did he????) I like to think he lives on...I hate when things end.But really what is there to look forward to now on a Sunday night?
  • I have sorted out my PC to within an inch of its life, its so organized now(well it was, little files are creeping in here and there where they are not mean to be...I will get to them soon)
  • I have a number of emails in my in box which I still need to reply to, If you are one of them I haven't forgotten you I have just been lazy.....
  • I had an urge the other day to re-read the Flowers in the attic series so am hunting them out on ebay as I type (3 down 2 to go)
  • MUST make arrangements to either pre-order the last Harry Potter( sob) or get some kind person to take me on release day (July 21st) Another thing I hate to end.
Gosh, I am having trouble thinking of things I have been doing, we have had meals out, fights, meals in, watched movies, its (nearly) July and I haven't even been down to the pool yet.
I have to babysit tomorrow evening for TM woman, I still haven't gotten my $100 from the old neighbours ( who I have now found out they have moved just over the boarder to Illinois) Bah!

Bloody Hell! This post is full of mindless, useless drivel, still at least you all know that I haven't pissed WP off enough (yet) for him to have killed me and buried me in the basement.
I will try and make a real effort to visit everyone and post some more on here, If I don't see you I wish all my American pals a happy 4th, and now my friends I will leave you with this song( a current fave) Off to bed now.
