The Break Up
Last night we watched The Break Up, I had been wanting to see this film a while because it looked good...Looks can be decieving.
I wont give away the plot ( for want of a better word) incase you havent seen it yet but basicly its about a girl and a guy -> have stupid argument -> Then get silly with the too proud to admit you are wrong part.
I could see her side, could identify strongly with it, of course the boys only saw his side and she was at fault 100%, whilst the guy was totally in the right.
I refrained from commenting for the most part.
I have to say though by the end of the film I was on Vinces side! The ending was a total let down, a bad example for men and sad for women.
The guy did what guys are brought up not to do but we women want them to do and wore his heart on his sleeve, was open and honest, which for a guy like that took a lot of guts.
Let me just say that any guy watching that film would be totally put off now from being so open and honest.
So all in all it was pretty bad, I am glad that I didnt pay to see it. One review I read said this :
I finally caught THE BREAK-UP. It's not as bad as critics put it. It works for a lot of the time. It goes on longer than it should have, and its tone towards the end of the movie fluctuates - as if they didn't know how to wrap this movie up. The tacked on ending doesn't work. I read somewhere that it was re-shot. The much darker original ending was replaced after audiences tests didn't like it.
The main problem with the film is Aniston. She's just not solid enough, and not an acting match for Vince Vaughn. She basically has one expression throughout the film.
With a better actress, this could have been a great film despite the probematic ending. It's making good money, so I guess it doesn't matter.
So they replaced the original ending, well they could have surely come up with something better then they ended up with.....

I did start to watch Brookeback mountain the other night but had to turn it off after 10 minutes- I could not understand a word they were saying.....*sigh.Labels: Movies
