Kitchen Headcount.
I asked WP to empty the dishwasher yesterday,as he was standing in the kitchen leaning against it waiting for the microwave to finish. He did right away. A while later I opened one of the cupboards only to find things that did not belong there. Only a few things, the measuring jug was with the glassware and the tupperware boxes were with the cheapo plastics (Sometimes we save old cottage cheese, margarine tubs for leftovers etc.
As I moved them I got to wondering how he survived on what little he had in the way of plates, and general kitchen wear. I did a quick count in my head. When I arrived here there was.
- One small pan
- 2 x large stockpot style pans. ( He would make a huge pan of chili for example and live off it all week !)
- 2 Mugs
- 4 place settings (bowl, side plate , dinner plate)
- 12 each small / tall glasses.
- One horrible frying pan.
- One tiny plastic chopping board.
- The usual silverware, although the number of knives don't match the forks and spoons ?
- Old Can opener.
- 4 Kitchen knives.
I have been here around a year and a half, we now possess ( as well as or in place of):
- One med steamer/pasta pan.
- 2 x tefal frying pans( soooooo much easier to clean)
- 4 mugs.
- 8 Place settings.
- One large glass chopping board..
- New can opener.
- Various plastic containers & Lids.
- Oven mitts.
- Rubber spatula.
- Various Wooden Spoons.
- 4 Large Pasta Bowls.
- One lidded glass casserole dish.
- 2 glass square/ rectangle oven dishes.
- 2 individual serving oven dishes.
- Plastic colander.
- Pyrex measuring jug.
- Set of measuring spoons.
- Kitchen scissors.
- 2 whisks.
- Cheese grater.
- Stainless steel mixing bowl.
- Kitchen Tongs.
- Tea towels.
- Kettle. (stove top)
- Toaster.
- Blender.
- Double size griddle.
- various bakewear ( why??)
- Potato peeler (used like once !)
- 2 teaspoons, stolen from a ponderosa :0
And this is just off the top of my head! and just from one room.
All this for a girl who cant cook! Imagine the supplies I would need if I actually liked to cook?
Not only have I collected all this but nothing lives in the same place it did when I arrived. The contents of all the cupboards have been completly re-worked.
The only bane of my life at the moment in there is the full size trash can that sitts in the corner. I have been campaining/ plotting to get rid of since last year. My defense if that I am the person who takes the trash out and if I don't mind doing it more often then whats the problem?
Do you think I have made my mark yet ?
