I don't get it ?

Finally got around to seeing Donnie Darko tonight. I don't know if it's me being dim or maybe I missed an integral part of the film whilst I was in the kitchen, in the bathroom etc, but..........I don't get it?

Please someone explain it to me.

I think I must be an absolute heathen because when it comes to "Cult Films" "Cult Albums" or "Cult Books" I generally don't think that much of them....
Lots of people raved about Garden State ? I saw it,I turned it off halfway through. I admit I didn't think much about Napoleon Dynamite the first time around but I must say that he has grown on me since.
Rocky Horror picture show ? Yeah its an enjoyable film but that's about it.
Radioheads Ok Computer is a good album but I wouldn't say it was a life changing experience to me when I listened to it. Same with Pink Floyds Dark side of the moon.
So there you have it! The truth is out, I am now a social outcast...
