The good ole days...

As a few of you will know I have been feeling a tad homesick and lonely of late.

Tonight I was thinking about home and some childhood haunts so I thought I would look on the net for some pics to share [boring post]
As a child I grew up in Boughton "Boughton is a suburb of Chester located a mile to the east of the city on a bend in the River Dee. Boughton has a long history stretching back into Roman times."

We lived quite near the river, and of course kids are drawn to water so every summer most of the days would be spent at Sandy Lane. Along the riverside, there was a public (free) paddling pool that used to look huge but in reality was tiny.
of course once you hit 12 or so you wouldn't be seen dead at Sandy Lane unless it was to hang out with your friends. Paddling pool Phhft we went in the river! Thinking about how dirty the water is in the river now makes me feel queasy to think I used to swim in it. In fact the river is that shallow at the point that you could actually walk across to the other side. The water would reach your bottom lip at most.

The picture above is of the little jetty at Sandy Lane. Come the summer there would be a man there every weekend and bank holiday. He owned a little ferry boat and would for 10pence (20 cents) ferry you across the river to the meadows the other side. People would picnic on them etc.
I have many many memories of Sandy Lane from:

Boyfriends: I met a with a guy (Rob) down there. Turned out later that we had met up with a local "naughty boys" home excursion. Did that bother us ? No, I went out with Rob for about a week, he dumped me went out with my friend Jackie and I moved onto Darren, also from the home.

Car crashes: My Ex allowed me to drive his car in the car park at Sandy Lane, long story short, he shouted, I panicked and reversed into a tree. He did laugh it off despite the fact that his boot would never quite shut the same again....
The funny thing was the trees were spaced out a lot, you could easily drive between the trees but no I had to drive into the tree.

Passes: My first serious boyfriend Allan, his step dad made a pass at me at Sandy Lane. He was driving me home one night(alone) he stopped the car unzipped his pants and invited me to ..Well you can guess the rest. Of course I declined in the nicest possible way. I told Allan the next day at school, we split up not long after that....

Years later I bumped into Allans mum she told me she had divorced the perv, Seems she had found out he had tried the same thing with her daughters and she asked me flat out had he tried anything with me.

When I started this post I hadn't even thought about that incident, I just wanted to post happy memories at the riverside. Oh well...

If anyone wants to look up Boughton here is a page, its really hard to read (black text on a dark background) I have written to the webmaster to suggest they change it ;)
Who knows if you are lucky (lol) I may give a few more teen memorys out soon....
